Ignore the sizes printed on the label. They're quoted as Asian sizing and run around two sizes below the actual measurements, so the UK equivalents above have been worked out from the centimetres instead: the smallest size fits a UK 8, not a UK 4. The waistband is deeply smocked and stretches beyond the figures shown, so if you're between two sizes take the smaller one and let the smocking do the work. Length is measured from the top of the smocked band to the hem.

How to Style a Sheer Maxi Skirt

All black is the sharpest version: a ribbed crop or a fitted vest, a small structured bag, flat black sandals or a low mule. A black slip underneath turns the sheerness into a deliberate two-layer effect and looks far more expensive than trying to disguise it. On fit, a deep smocked panel holds the waist and upper hip smooth and then releases everything at once, which is genuinely flattering on apple and hourglass figures because the narrowest point is marked and the volume starts below it; the caveat is that the panel is firm and sits high, so if you'd rather not have compression across the midriff, a plain elasticated waistband will feel easier over a long day.
